doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?

hello again!!! hope you have been having a wonderful past few weeks! i'm so excited to be posting on here again (i seriously have been looking forward to this all week)!! there's lots to catch up on, so let's get right to it!

FIRST WEEK OF GODSPELL!

this week was our first week of godspell rehearsals at my university!!!! this week (18th-23rd) we mainly focused on music and were challenged with the task of being off book for the full score by friday! it was absolutely a challenge considering that it's mastermind stephen schwartz's writing, and since we only had a week to get every down. however, we managed to do it and it was so so much fun and it went so much better than we all expected! we also had a read through of the full script on wednesday which was really great, and it was lovely to hear everyone's characters shine through for the first time! We also have such an excellent team who are all so hard working and brilliant! Erin Jerozal as our director, Joshua Terrones as assistant director, Janette Hanson as music director, and Will Handrick and Ellie Parish our lovely stage manager and assistant stage manager! It overall has been such a lovely process so far and i'm so excited to put this show on in april! I'm pumped to be able to share more of the process in the coming weeks, but for now here's some pictures I took throughout the week!

SENIOR SHOWCASE FILMING WEEKEND!

this weekend we also had our senior showcase filming under the teaching of my professors Shane Rhoades and Brittany Bara!! as seniors in our bfa program we get to showcase some pieces that we have been working on as a kind of wrap up and presentation of all the things that we have learned over the past 4 years in our conservatory! It has been so lovely to be apart of this process and having the opportunity to see all of my fellow classmates grow and discover, and also notice changes in myself and in my process over the past couple of years! as soon as we get access to the videos, I plan to post them here on my website, so stay tuned! In the meantime, here's some photos from my filming day with me and my good friends Kalyn Schmit and Gabby Moten!

REVIEWS + RECS

my song of the week is "So Far Away" by Carole King! Tapestry is one of my favorite albums of all time, and it has been on repeat for the past couple of weeks! If you know me, you know that I am always listening to music, and if you want to see what music i'm listening to currently, follow me on spotify!! my username is: @laurencanfield

aaaaand now for my first book recommendation (yay!!!!). I'm not currently reading anything at the moment, but there is never a time that I won't be recommending this author or novel. My recommendation for this post is "On Earth Were Briefly Gorgeous" by Ocean Vuong. If you have never heard of Ocean Vuong, RUN to your local bookstore and look for his name on the shelves!! You can typically find his books in the poetry section, as many of the books he writes are poetry books, but On Earth Were Briefly Gorgeous is actually his first published novel! in this novel, ocean captivates you with mesmerizing metaphors about the human experience and homegrown life-stories that make you never want to stop reading, all while, using the most devastatingly poetic language one has ever read. I cannot recommend Ocean Vuong ENOUGH.

Some things to look forward to!
